If you’ve spent any time at all around MacroEd, you know how much I LOVE a clean slate.  Around here we celebrate new months and even new weeks, so you KNOW I’m hyped for a new year!  This year is no different.  We’re coming off of an amazing year for our program with LOTS of people experiencing legitimate, life-changing growth.  It’s been the most rewarding year in our history and we feel sure that 2019 will allow us to serve even more people and be a part of even more stories.  So more than we’re celebrating putting something behind (because, honestly, it was a pretty great something that we loved being a part of), we’re celebrating running toward something even greater.

So, with that in mind, it’s time to step back and take stock of where we are.  We’ll work on goals and where we’re headed in the coming days, but for right now, we’re just trying to create an accurate snapshot of where we are right now.  We want to see how far we’ve grown, how we’ve changed, and what we’ve accomplished later on, but none of that is possible without establishing a baseline.

Here’s what I need you to record for your start-of-the-year snapshot:

The Rating Part

On a scale from 1-5 with 1 being “not at all” and 5 being “absolutely, all the way,” how would your rate the following statements about yourself?

  • I work hard to take care of those I love.
  • I work hard to take care of myself.
  • I am happy with my life.
  • I feel in control of my choices and habits.
  • I am physically healthy.
  • I am emotionally healthy.
  • I have a positive outlook.
  • I am helpful and supportive of others.

The Photo + Narrative Part

Grab a current photo and write a little bio of what life is like for you right now.  Describe yourself, your habits, the people around you, and your happiness.

The BEST Part

Here’s what’s cool: wherever you are, whatever stage of the journey you’re in now, you get to decide where you go from here.  This isn’t some hippy-dippy New Year’s nonsense either.  It’s real.  You get to choose who you are and how you conduct yourself every day.  And if you don’t like the way things are going, you get to change it.  Just like that.  Without asking permission from anyone.

How do I know?  We see it all day every day from our members.
We see them:

  • break habits that don’t serve them well
  • build new habits that drive them towards their goals
  • drop limiting beliefs
  • find encouraging people.

All the time.  Literally.  Every day.  And while I happen to think our crew is the most amazing, special group of people ever assembled, the truth is, there’s nothing special about them that makes these changes easier to make.  They just make em…and work through the difficult parts.

So, take stock, complete your snapshot, and think about where you want to go from here.  We’ll help you navigate as we go throughout this week.
