Amber Pauley has had one heck of a year! I’m excited to bring her story to you today in our Member Spotlight. She’s been my right-hand woman all year with recipe development and meal plans, she runs our super-active and awesome Long Haul 60+ group, and is always up for whatever MacroEd adventures we have going. We couldn’t make it without her. What’s even better is that her results have been outstanding. Helping our members has kept her accountable and on track with her goals. We are so proud of how much she’s grown this year and can’t wait to see what 2017 looks like for her. Here’s her story:
How long have you been a part of MacroEd?
January 4, 2016 I started my first 8 week cycle.
What are your goals?
To be healthy, happy, & have the energy to do all the things I tend to commit myself to. Also, to not be a statistic. I was an obese child & have been obese my entire life with age it became much harder to be active enough to avoid high the health risks that come with being obese.
How have you changed? (Physically, mentally, emotionally, etc).
I am in a much better place than I was a year ago mentally & physically I feel like I’m in control again. I have the energy to live my daily life, I can keep up in the gym, & am more confident than I was a year ago. 2016 has been a good year of learning & growing for me. On another note I had been suffering from some pretty serious back pain the past 3 or so years that had definitely had an impact on my daily life. The weight loss along with monthly massage & most recently yoga has made that back pain almost non-existent.
How did you make the program fit into your daily life?
That was the easy part. I am a numbers oriented person who needs a goal to work towards so it never really didn’t fit. I wanted it bad enough that it honestly felt like it fit into my life seamlessly. I wasn’t new to Jeremy’s way of thinking, but I needed the accountability. The accountability groups made all the difference for me & still do. I love my 60+ crew 🙂
What’s your favorite macro-friendly food?
I could never say I have one. I love food period. If I want it I make it work. I do love cooking & baking though so it has been fun working with Ashley to make old favorites & new favorites that are a little lower in carbs, higher in protein, & still taste amazing.
What would you say to someone considering MacroEd?
Give it 8 weeks & don’t stress if you aren’t perfect. When I started that’s where my mind set was I was going to give it my all for 8 weeks & then go from there. What was I going to be out if I didn’t. I would either make progress or decide after the 8 weeks it wasn’t for me, but I definitely wouldn’t be any worse off than I was already.
What’s your best piece of advice for our new friends?
Take advantage of all the awesome resources provided to them. Jeremy & Ashley both are offering such great resources to help you. Grab an accountability group or partner & trust the process fully for those 8 weeks. Then at the end of the 8 weeks you can decide if this will fit into your life, but don’t look beyond those 8 weeks during your first cycle.
What’s next for you?
I will continue to make this work for me. I am at a point where I am trying to balance my gym life while still being able to progress by losing additional weight. It truly has been a lifestyle change for me that I can see myself holding onto for the long term. I will continue to sign up for 1 or 2 powerlifting meets a year, but I also feel comfortable being able to challenge myself with some running adventures in the coming year. I’m definitely not stopping & look to become more & more active as I get older & finally for the first time in my life truly get a handle on my weight & not just feel like I’m spinning my wheels constantly trying.
Congratulations, Amber, on an amazing year. Thank you for all you do to make MacroEd successful and encourage all our members. Who would have known when we talked about the challenge last Christmas that it would have produced results like this!?! So happy for you and proud of all your success!
