Level Up Challenge

(Fair warning:  This is pretty much a BOOK about the Level Up Challenge.  If you already know which course you want, head over to the Shop and grab your spot.  If not, read on and learn about our challenge.)
You all have done so well of minding your macros over the summer despite schedules being crazy, living at the ball field, and vacations!  We’ve been really proud of how well you’ve navigated those challenges, but now that we’re getting back into a routine, it’s a great time to recommit to hitting a solid 8-week cycle of the MacroEd plan.  We’re asking everyone to commit in earnest to an 8 week cycle from Tuesday, Sept 6 through Sunday, Oct 30.  This gives you Labor Day and Halloween off.  😉

We’ve developed several courses and options for you as you consider which next step will be appropriate for you.  We ask that you only choose ONE path for each 8 weeks.  This allows you to really focus and get better at one thing instead of being too scattered to see results.  The only exception is 1-on-1 accountability coaching which can be paired with any of the other courses.  So here’s the plan:

New to Macros???

If you have never successfully completed a full 8-week cycle of the MacroEd plan, your options are the Beginner Course and/or 1-on-1 Accountability Coaching.  That’s it.  Do not pass GO.  Do not collect $200.  We have to walk before we can run, so if you’re new or haven’t ever made it all the way through an 8-week cycle, these are your choices.

8-Week-Beginner-Course

The Beginner Course is an email-based course that will walk you through the steps of MacroEd week-by-week.  You’ll also be assigned to a FB accountability group where one of our experienced coaches will be able to answer questions and assist you.  Each Friday you’ll receive a meal plan for the following week so that you can shop and prep over the weekend.  The meal plan is completely comprehensive.  Literally every meal and snack is planned out for you.  You may elect to not follow it to the full degree and customize it to your own needs and preferences, but it’s there in full form for those who need it.  You’ll also receive an optional 8-week beginner at-home workout plan.  There is no workout requirement for MacroEd but we wanted to provide an option for those who were ready to grow in that area.  If you currently have a workout program you like, stick with it.  This is just offered for those who want to begin adding movement to their days but aren’t sure how to go about it.

Meal-Plan-Program

Bored with Food Choices???

For those of you who have done well with the MacroEd plan and have completed an 8-week cycle successfully, you may want to consider signing up for the Meal Plan option.  You clearly know HOW to eat to hit your macros, but maybe you’re bored with your same food options and need some fresh ideas or just want us to do the planning for you.  We’ve gotcha covered.  Sign up for our Meal Plan and each Friday you’ll have a meal plan delivered to your inbox.  It will include a shopping list, eating schedule (what goes with what to hit your macro goals?), and all the recipes you’ll need.  The meal plan is completely comprehensive.  Literally every meal and snack is planned out for you.  You may elect to not follow it to the full degree and customize it to your own needs and preferences, but it’s there in full form for those who need it.  If you took the Beginner Course previously, this will not be a good option for you because beginners have access to the same meal plan.

Ready to Get Moving???

If you’ve got the macro situation under control and are consistently hitting your daily goals, it’s time to add some movement into your world.  We have several options for this.  For these three courses, you’ll be working remotely with Josh Tackett and Corey Chapman of Crossfit Strode Station.  Jeremy and Ashley have known these guys for years (decades for Ashley & Josh) and couldn’t be more excited to have them on board to work with you.  They know their stuff and they’re wonderful teachers.  Josh & Corey will set you up with a training plan through a platform called Train Heroic.  There they will share your weekly workout assignments.  All three plans have three day/week training schedules.  You may complete them on whichever days work the best for your schedule.  The training plan includes video explanations, a place for your to log your results, and an option to submit questions or videos to coaches so they can give you some feedback.  Josh & Corey will answer questions as you go and help you get the most out of your workouts.  They’ll be offering three different courses for us:  1st 5k, Half Marathon, and Beginning Strength & Conditioning.  Take a minute to watch a quick welcome video from Josh & Corey and learn more about the courses:

5k-program

If you’re new to exercise, setting a goal of completing a 5k race is a GREAT first step.  It gives you something to train for and helps you get into the routine of working out three days a week.  Josh & Corey have developed a program that involves 2 days of running or walking and one day of strength work.  You’ll progress from literally no running (if that’s where you are now) to being able to complete a 5k (3.1 mile) race.  The increases in distance will be slow and steady to give your body time to work up to it.  We hope you’ll show off your skills here in Huntington with us at the Marshall 5k on Sunday, Nov 6.  You can register for that here: http://marshalluniversitymarathon.com/

Half-marathon-Program

If you can run a 5k currently, it may be time to step it up and train for a half marathon.  Whether this is your first of 50th half, you will need to work through a training program to be able to complete it safely.  Josh & Corey have developed a program that involves two days of running or walking (some intervals, some distance) as well as one day of strength work.  We hope you’ll show off your skills here in Huntington with us at the Marshall Half on Sunday, Nov 6.  You can register for that here: http://marshalluniversitymarathon.com/

Strength-and-Conditioning-Program

You know you wanna be in better shape and you’re ready to start working out.  Instead of wandering aimlessly around the gym doing a few reps on this machine and a minutes on that cardio equipment, let our coaches show you how to make the most of your workouts.  They’ll introduce you to effective strength and conditioning training and take away the fear and confusion.  Josh and Corey will show you what to do and how to do it for the best possible results.  This is excellent for those who want to improve body composition (tone) and strength.

Need More Personalization???

Accountability-1-on-1

You know what to do but actually pulling it off every day is a struggle.  Sometimes you just need a friend to follow up with you and ask how you’re doing.  Our coaches will do just that.  They’ll work with you to determine your goals and help you take steps each day towards reaching those.  You will have daily check-ins with one of our friendly, supportive coaches.  He/She will be available to answer questions, share struggles, and help you overcome obstacles.  We’ve piloted this for a few weeks now and it’s been a HUGE success.  Coaches AND members are loving this set up.  We think you will too!
