Iced Protein Coffee

When the weather is warm but you still need your protein coffee fix, Iced Protein Coffee is here for you!  Start your day off with flavored coffee with a big hit of protein INSTEAD of carbs.

I would be embarrassed to tell you how frequently protein coffee is a part of my world.  I love the act of drinking coffee.  It’s a ritual at our house.  I love the way coffee tastes.  I love the way it makes me feel.  And I love the all the fun flavors I can use to mix it up.

When I first started counting macros and being honest with myself about how much frou frou creamer I was using, I quickly saw that my old coffee ways needed an upgrade if I had any hope of hitting my macros.  That’s when I learned all about Protein Coffee.  To this day, most of my mornings still start with the traditional version, but with the summer heat, I knew I needed, and more importantly our MacroEd crew needed, an iced option.  Thus Iced Protein Coffee was born.

Use the recipe as-written or switch it up with cold brew coffee for a stronger punch.

We make all of our recipes around here with 1st Phorm protein because we like the quality and the way it tastes.  Most protein powders fail hard at mixing with cold beverages, so use other proteins at your own risk.  1st Phorm mixes like a dream with cold coffee in a blender bottle.  No need for fancy bullet blenders or anything.  That makes it super portable and easy to grab on the go.  You can even keep powder and a shaker in your car then grab a cold brew from Starbucks to recreate this when you’re traveling.

As for flavors, I’m partial to Level 1 Chocolate Milkshake and Level 1 Cinnamon Cookie Batter, but feel free to experiment.  Kinda crazy about the German Chocolate Cake in this recipe too.  Any of the Level 1 or Phormula 1 flavors will work.  Level 1 will create a thicker coffee and Phormula 1 will create a thinner one.
